Blog news and product highlights, why are they important?

A new blog can do many things for a website, from adding a current date to your website (especially good for Search Engine Optimisation) to upselling services offered or sought after at that time of year or even just letting potential customers know what events or shows companies will be attending that month or year.
Some companies do not see the benefit of adding a news feed as they do not update their content often enough, this is a mistake, the simple fact is search engines trawl websites frequently to look for new content, if there is none you can lose positioning or ranking within their search terms for your services or products.
It doesn’t take much to add a news item to a website, as long as the news item is well structured, has images and you don’t forget to add clickable links to either other areas of your website or external links to other websites (usually best to keep the link internal as opposed to external as search engines could see this as a bounce).
When creating a news feed you can even add extra search weight to your news item by carefully selecting categories and tags, these words go a long way to helping search engines know what the content is about as well as help with positioning in their own search engines, it also adds search term weight to the rest of the website.
Adding images to a blog or news item also, you guessed it adds search term weight, providing the images are named and the alt tag is used, these simple tricks help the search engines categorize your website search terms and help you as a company come higher up the list when searched for through them, new, relevant to your industry content is a must for search engines today.
